TorinoFilmLab is glad to announce the jury of its 8th Meeting Event!
Alongside TFL Advisory Board President Alberto Barbera, Director of the National Museum of Cinema in Turin and Director of the Venice Film Festival, the Jury will feature Mexican film activist Paula Astorga, Argentinian producer Benjamin Domenech, French-Afghan writer and director Atiq Rahimi, and Belgian director Fien Troch.
The international Jury will assign Production Awards to FrameWork Programme projects during the TFL Meeting Event (25-27 November).
Let’s have a closer look at the 2015 jurors.
Paula Astorga, who created Mexico City-based film festival FICCO in 2004, is the former director of the Cineteca Nacional de Mexico. She is currently general director of Circo 2.12, a non-profit organisation running various initiatives propagating films throughout Mexico.
Benjamin Domenech co-founded the production company Rei Cine in 2009, which has been instrumental in the nurturing of new Argentinean film talents. His credits include, among others, TFL projects LEONES by Jazmín López, and HISTORY OF FEAR by Benjamin Naishtat. He is currently producing Lucrecia Martel’s ZAMA.
Atiq Rahimi’s first feature, Earth and Ashes (Cannes 2004), was adapted from his own bestseller novel. His first book written in French, The Patience Stone, won the Prix Goncourt, France’s most prestigious Literary Prize. Once again, he directed its adaptation, which was selected as the Afghan entry for the Best Foreign Language Oscar in 2013.
Fien Troch is one of the most original voices of contemporary Flemish cinema. Her first three feature films won major awards, including Best Actress Award for UNSPOKEN at Torino Film Festival in 2008. She is currently editing HOME, which she developed at TFL’s Script&Pitch in 2014 (ARTE International Award).
