FeatureLab selection process kicks off with 128 applications to assess!

March 10, 2017

TorinoFilmLab is very pleased to announce that we have received 128 applications from all over the world for the very first edition of the FeatureLab programme. We would like to thank all those who applied and wish them the best of luck!

The FeatureLab – 360 selection process, divided into two stages, is already in motion. A Reading Committee will carry out the first assessment of the applications and define a shortlist of projects; these finalists will be evaluated and discussed by the Selection Committee, in charge of shaping the line-up of projects to be presented at the 10th TFL Meeting Event (24-26 November, 2017).

Long-time TFL tutor/trainer Franz Rodenkirchen and Francesco Giai Via, who notably collaborates with the lab as talent scout, take part in the Reading Committee. They are joined by four TFL Alumnae: producers Marie Dubas (Premiere Ligne Films, co-producer of TFL-supported film THE WOUND by John Trengove), Zsuzsanna Kiràly (Komplizen Films, production company of TONI ERDMANN by Maren Ade), published author & documentary producer Erica Barbiani (Videomante – THE SPECIAL NEED by TFL Alumnus Carlo Zoratti), and Head of Moulin d’Andé’s CÉCI (Centre for Film Writing) Fabienne Aguado. Post-production manager and producer Konstantina Stavrianou (Graal Films, involved among others in TFL title JESÚS by Fernando Guzzoni) completes the team.

The Selection Committee is chaired by TFL Artistic Director Matthieu Darras. It comprises director Ralitza Petrova, who won the Golden Leopard in Locarno 2016 with her debut feature GODLESS, which was developed within FrameWork, the predecessor of the new FeatureLab programme. The third member of the committee is film curator Suzy Gillett (Film Lab producer for the London Film School; teacher of Film Curating at the Barbican Centre, London and Scuola Holden, Turin).

The teams of 10 first or second feature film projects will be chosen to participate in FeatureLab – 360 and 4 professionals will be trained within FeatureLab – audience design.

The selection will be announced on Thursday, the 27th of April. Stay tuned!
