FeatureLab 2017 selection announced: debut features, Southeast Asia & family relationships prevail!

May 2, 2017

TorinoFilmLab is delighted to announce the full line-up of FeatureLab 2017. Emerging directors will prevail this year with no less than 10 first features projects. Two second feature projects, to be directed by Katrin Gebbe and Franco Lolli (who both had their debuts in Cannes), will also be participating. Family relationships definitely constitute the recurring theme of this edition.

Very much welcome, the presence of filmmakers from North Africa & Southeast Asia is remarkable, as these 2 regions provide half of the projects selected. Notably, two Indonesian projects will attend as part of a partnership with BEKRAF, the Indonesian Agency for Creative Economy.

The FeatureLab programme foresees the participation of teams of scriptwriters, directors and producers as well as audience designers in two project development workshops, and in the TFL Meeting Event. The first workshop will kick off in the Netherlands in June. Besides benefiting from tailor-made consultations on various creative & production aspects of their development, the projects will compete for a number of production grants at the TFL Meeting Event in November.

4 audiovisual professionals will receive hands-on training in the FeatureLab – audience design action of the programme, where they will explore possibilities and learn to create audience engagement strategies for films in advanced development.
