Lovers Film Festival awards THE WOUND and launches the Querelle Grant with TFL!

June 21, 2017

John Trengove's debut feature and TFL film THE WOUND was awarded as Best Feature Film at the 32nd Lovers Film Festival - Torino LGBTQI Visions, the historic LGBTQI festival of TorinoFilmLab's home town!

The film - developed at FrameWork 2014, awarded with a TFL Production Award and supported by the TFL Audience Design Fund in 2016 - premiered at this year's Sundance Film Festival and later opened Berlinale Panorama before landing in Turin, within the Festival's international competition "All the Lovers".

This is how the Jury motivated the decision: "We are proud to award a debut feature with an unusual subject, which makes us discover the ancestral traditions of a patriarchal society and their way of conditioning lives, in particular the lives of homosexual people. We were moved by the powerful story and by the director's will to document this reality".

Furthermore, for the first time this year, the Festival - together with the 30th Turin International Book Fair and TorinoFilmLab - launches the "Querelle Grant", dedicated to under 40 authors working on original LGBTQI-themed scripts. An important synergy between Turin institutions aimed at supporting young talents.

The grant will be given by the Turin International Book Fair in January 2018; the winning author will have the opportunity to meet different professionals of the audio-visual sector, to discuss the feasibility of his/her script during the 33rd edition of Lovers Film Festival.

In the jury there will be representatives - among others - of the National Cinema MuseumTurin International Book Fair and TorinoFilmLab.
