LA HOLANDESA to be presented in Toronto’s Discovery section

More good news are coming from Toronto International Film Festival: first feature film written by Daan Gielis and directed by Marleen Jonkman will premiere in Toronto! LA HOLANDESA will be part of Discovery, the festival's non-competitive section dedicated to “directors to watch, the future of world cinema”.

Set in the beautiful landscape of Chile, the film tells the story of Maud, a forty-year-old woman unable to have children but refusing to face the reality. After a huge fight with her husband Frank she runs off and sets out on a road trip through the country that will see her travel through pain and grief before eventually making peace with herself.

This dramatic road movie has been developed by its author Daan Gielis at TorinoFilmLab’s Script&Pitch 2012 programme and was presented last year in Torino as part of the line-up of TFL Coming Soon, TorinoFilmLab’s work-in-progress event.

LA HOLANDESA is a co-production between the Netherlands (Smarthouse Films and FATT Productions) and Germany (Leitwolf TV- und Filmproduktion), in association with the Chilean Lucho Films. It received the support of Netherlands Film Fund.

The 42nd edition of the Toronto International Film Festival will run from September 7th to September 17th.
