Calls & Opportunities
October 5, 2017
TorinoFilmLab is glad to launch the new call for applications for the comprehensive script development programme ScriptLab 2018, with deadline on December 1st, 2017. We are looking for 20 projects of feature films at an early stage of development and 5 story editors!
Open to filmmakers from all over the world, ScriptLab is dedicated to scriptwriters and directors developing feature film projects, and to professionals willing to gain hands-on story editing experience. From March to November 2018, participants will gather for 3 week-long residential workshops, and work in groups under the guidance of internationally experienced tutors and talent advisors. Projects will be mixed within the working groups regardless of how they were initiated - original or adapted scripts, stimulating the participants through a process combining different approaches.
We are pleased to welcome on board a new partner, joining forces with TorinoFilmLab for the first time: the Greek Film Centre, which will host the first workshop of the programme and support the participation of one Greek project in the training. Besides, we are delighted to renew our long-lasting partnership with Le Groupe Ouest, once again hosting the second residential session in Brittany (France).
Moreover, thanks to the partnerships with BEKRAF – Indonesian Agency for Creative Economy, Cinema do Brasil, the Netherlands Film Fund, and the VAF – Flanders Audiovisual Fund, TorinoFilmLab will select one project from Indonesia, one from Brazil, one from the Netherlands and one from the Flanders region of Belgium, whose participation in ScriptLab will be supported by the above-mentioned institutions.
At TorinoFilmLab we take pride in the cultural diversity of our selection, and another measure adopted to promote such variety is the newly introduced possibility to complement the English-language application dossier with materials in original language. The reading committee for ScriptLab 2018 will be able to welcome submissions in as many as 15 additional languages: Arabic, Czech, Danish, French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Serbo-Croatian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish.
We are delighted to confirm that the team of tutors for ScriptLab 2018 will include the scriptwriters and script consultants Nadja Dumouchel (France), Giacomo Durzi (Italy), Pierre Hodgson (United Kingdom/France), Razvan Radulescu (Romania) and Franz Rodenkirchen (Germany). Once again, producer Ewa Puszczyńska (Poland) will take part in the programme in the role of “talent advisor”.
