TFL Meeting Event 2017: discover the 11 Awards & winners!

The 10th edition of TorinoFilmLab was officially closed with the TFL Meeting Event, where 11 development, production and distribution awards were assigned for a total value of € 354.000.
A global co-production forum for independent feature films and adaptations, with a focus on emerging talents. A public presentation of the projects developed at TorinoFilmLab throughout the year. A moment to reward the best projects with awards, production & distribution grants. The TorinoFilmLab Meeting Event, taking place on November 24-25 within the Torino Film Festival, brought together more than 300 industry professionals from all over the world.
Within the FeatureLab programme, 12 projects in their final stages of development and advancing towards pre-production were presented.
The international Jury comprising, along with the President of Turin’s Museo Nazionale del Cinema, Laura Milani: acclaimed director Karim Aïnouz (Brazil); renowned London-born, US-educated filmmaker and artist Tala Hadid (Morocco/Iraq); emerging helmer Anna Rose Holmer (USA); and producer Georges Schoucair (Lebanon), has decided to award 2 TFL Production Awards (amounting to a total of € 100.000):
Alfa by Una Gunjak (Bosnia & Herzegovina / Italy / Croatia / France) – € 50.000
Sole by Carlo Sironi (Italy / France / Poland) – € 50.000
and 3 TFL Co-Production Awards (amounting to a total of € 150.000):
Taste by Le Bao (Singapore / Vietnam) – € 50.000
The Defendant by Franco Lolli (Colombia / France) – € 50.000
Whether the Weather Is Fine by Carlo Francisco Manatad (Philippines / France / Singapore) – € 50.000
The following prizes were also awarded:
2 TFL Audience Design Fund Awards (€ 40.000) – aimed at supporting innovative audience engagement strategies at the moment of distribution – were officially presented to as many winning projects:
Birds of Passage by Ciro Guerra & Cristina Gallego (Colombia/Denmark)
Dead & Beautiful by David Verbeek (Netherlands)
ARTE International Prize (€ 6.000)
The prize, dedicated to the support of one of the FeatureLab projects in an advanced phase of development and presented at the TFL Meeting Event 2017, was assigned to:
Taste by Le Bao (Singapore / Vietnam)
CNC Award (€ 8.000)
The prize, granted by CNC - National Centre for Cinema and the Moving Image and dedicated to the further development of one of the projects from the ScriptLab – original & adaptation programmes, was assigned to:
Selene66 by Jacqueline Lentzou (Greece)
EP2C Post-Production Award
The prize is assigned to a FeatureLab project: it allows the producer to participate in the EP2C workshop on post-production and it offers a € 5.000 grant in post-production services at the Filmmore facilities either in Amsterdam or in Brussels and a € 5.000 grant to be spent in the Warnier-Posta sound studio in Amsterdam. The prize went to:
Feathers of a Father by Omar El Zohairy (France / Egypt), produced by Juliette Lepoutre – Still Moving
Digital Production Challenge II Award
The award, consisting in the participation in the DPC II Workshop, is granted by FOCAL resource and went to the ScriptLab project:
You Are My Everything by Michal Vinik (Israel)
Besides the abovementioned prizes awarded to the feature films, during the Ceremony two awards and a special mention were given to the best projects participating in the SeriesLab Italia programme, dedicated to the development of Italian TV series and organized by Film Commission Torino Piemonte and TorinoFilmLab:
Sky Award (€ 10.000)
The Sky Award was given to:
Viola in the Mirror by Rossella Di Campli
APT Prize (€ 2.000)
The APT Prize was assigned by the Jury of APT – Associazione Produttori Televisivi to:
Viola in the Mirror by Rossella Di Campli
Furthermore, a special mention was given to:
InJury by Lorenza Di Corinto, Francesca Nozzolillo and Giordana Mari
A community of 700 film professionals trained within TFL, 79 completed films and 20 films entering production in 2018, dozens of prizes in the main festivals worldwide as well as Oscar candidatures, more than 40 international partners and a total of around 3000 international guests brought to Torino are only some of the numbers with which TorinoFilmLab celebrates the tenth edition of the TFL Meeting Event.
TorinoFilmLab is powered by Museo Nazionale del Cinema. Created in 2008 thanks to the support of the MiBACT - Direzione Generale Cinema, the Regione Piemonte and the Città di Torino, the lab is promoted by Ministero dei Beni e delle Attività Culturali e del Turismo, Torino Film Festival and Film Commission Torino Piemonte.
