4th edition of Cannes Critics’ Week’s “Next Step” kicks off in collaboration with TFL!

TorinoFilmLab is glad to announce the 4th edition of Next Step, an initiative of La Semaine de la Critique, realized in collaboration with TorinoFilmLab within the framework of our TFL Extended activities.
Since 2014, TorinoFilmLab and the Cannes Critics’ Week join forces to accompany the directors whose shorts have been selected in the prestigious annual competition in the development of their first feature films. This week-long workshop is held every year in Moulin d’Andé-CÉCI (France).
From Monday, December 4th to Friday, December 8th nine young talents will take part in this TFL-curated training. They will have the opportunity to benefit from the expertise of four script & directing consultants: Italian Antonio Piazza & Fabio Grassadonia and French Marie Amachoukeli and Nadja Dumouchel. Furthermore, the project holders will also meet French producer Gabrielle Dumon (Le Bureau) as well as sales agents Mathieu Robinet (BAC Films) and Hédi Zardi (Luxbox).The workshop will reach its conclusion in Paris with a session dedicated to film soundtracks, organized in collaboration with SACEM.
To this day, 29 film directors have benefited from Next Step’s support, including Una Gunjak with her first feature film ALFA, which just won a Production Award of € 50.000 at the TFL Meeting Event 2017, and Jonas Carpignano with A CIAMBRA, also developed at TorinoFilmLab and designated as Italy's candidate for the Best Foreign Language Academy Award at the 2018 Oscars.
