TFL Films & Series
December 22, 2017
Among the 19 ScriptLab – original & adaptation projects that were presented at Turin last November in the frame of the 10th TFL Meeting Event, 4 have been selected to participate in 2 of the main professional events of January: When East Meets West, Trieste Film Festival’s co-production forum and International Film Festival Rotterdam’s (IFFR) co-production market CineMart.
Within the line-up of the Italian gathering is DARK MOTHER EARTH by Rok Biček (co-written by Kristian Novak), “an intimate portrait of a nation unwilling to look in the mirror”, taking place in a small Croatian village where a boy is blamed for 8 suicides, as well as Laura Samani’s SMALL BODY (co-written by Elisa Dondi), the dangerous journey of a young mother of a stillborn baby willing to risk anything in order to reach a mysterious sanctuary.
At CineMart, Anita Rocha da Silveira will present MEDUSA, describing a fictional Brazilian society in which a girl squad is pursuing and punishing “all women who do not behave properly, that is, who are not modest, feminine and submissive to men”. Finally, Kaweh Modiri will participate with MITRA, a story set in the Netherlands about two Iranian women dealing with “immigration, betrayal, revenge, and most of all, letting go”.
The 8th edition of When East Meets West will take place in Trieste on 21st-23rd January while the 35th edition of CineMart will be held in Rotterdam from 28th to 31st January.
