ScriptLab 2019 on its way with a revamped team of tutors

January 24, 2019

The TorinoFilmLab pioneering programme for fiction feature projects at an early development stage is smoothly moving toward its 14th edition with a reloaded team at its forefront. Newly announced Head of Studies Eva Svenstedt Ward has gathered 5 European script consultants coming from different backgrounds, to guide the selected participants through the meandering path of the development process.

Rasmus Horskjær is the first addition to this new quintet. Based in Copenhagen, Denmark, Rasmus has a track record in screenwriting and script mentoring. He has been working continuously with Denmark's National Broadcasting Corporation as writer and director for a number of series for young audiences. From 2010 to 2014, he served as film commissioner at the Danish Film Institute, supervising and developing more than a dozen feature films. He is also credited for several feature films, such as ALL IN by Christian Dyekjær, Opening Film at the CPH PIX 2017.

Born in Reykjavik and based in Berlin, writer-director Maria Solrun will lead the second working group. Maria directed the feature films JARGO and ADAM, which premiered at the Berlinale 2004 and 2018. She has worked as a screenwriter for several film production companies including Columbia Tristar, Sony Pictures, Studio Hamburg, X Filme and Boje Buck Productions. Since 2006 she has also been working as a film and television fiction consultant for the Icelandic Film Centre.

German Françoise von Roy is a script advisor working at an international level on diverse projects, including genre, experimental, documentary and art film. She has a large experience in tutoring within development programmes such as Venice Biennale College Cinema, BOOST NL (Cinemart and Hubert Bals Fund), the German Ministry of Culture and Media (BKM) and the Nipkow programme. Françoise has worked in the film and television industry since the late 1990’s, in various fields of production and development from location and production manager to creative producer and head of development.

ScriptLab will welcome again Nadja Dumouchel, who was trained as a story editor within TFL Script&Pitch programme in 2012 and will come back for her second edition as tutor. Nadja worked at ARTE and Premium Films; as a script consultant, she has been working for Next Step (organized by Semaine de la Critique, in collaboration with TorinoFilmLab), REALNESS and NISI MASA. She also co-founded the scriptwriting programme La Scénaristerie.

Last but not least, our long-term tutor Franz Rodenkirchen will complete the line-up. Apart from individual script consultations and his work at TFL, Franz works as a tutor for the Script Station of Berlinale Talents, CineLink Sarajevo, SEAFIC (SE-Asian Fiction Film Lab), dffb Berlin. Together with Françoise von Roy, he runs the bimonthly script development workshop Script Circle for writers and filmmakers and the intensive workshop 6 Days of Practice for producers, development executives and others involved in script development.

Next week, the Selection Committee will gather in the cradle of TFL, Turin, for the final selection. The announcement is expected for the first week of February. ScriptLab 2019 will then kick off in March with the first workshop, to be held from 18th to 24th March 2019 in Greece, thanks to our partnership with the Greek Film Centre.
