PORT AUTHORITY selected in Un Certain Regard 2019!

April 18, 2019

We’re thrilled to announce that American filmmaker Danielle Lessovitz has been selected with her TFL Film PORT AUTHORITY in the prestigious section Un Certain Regard at the 72nd Cannes Film Festival (14-25 May 2019)!

PORT AUTHORITY is Lessovitz’s long-anticipated debut film. It follows the story of Paul, a teenager freshly arrived in New York, who falls in love with transsexual Wye. When Paul discovers Wye's biological identity, he has to undertake a journey of self-discovery and acceptance.

Danielle Lessovitz and her producer Virginie Lacombe (Madeleine Films – France), participated in the FeatureLab 2016 programme, receiving the support of the TFL Co-Production Fund (€ 50.000) during the TFL Meeting Event of the same year. PORT AUTHORITY is an international co-production between France, USA (Martin Scorsese's production company, Sikelia Productions) and Brazil (RT Features).

It is the fifth TFL Film selected in this section, the first since the success of THE HAPPIEST DAY IN THE LIFE OF OLLI MÄKI by Juho Kuosmanen (Main Prize) and DOGS by Bogdan Mirica (FIPRESCI Prize), in 2016.

Furthermore, congratulations to TFL Alumnus Oliver Laxe, selected in Un Certain Regard with his new feature film O QUE ARDE (A SUN THAT NEVER SETS).
