ScriptLab announces new collaboration & presents team of tutors for 2020

December 9, 2019

We are delighted to disclose more information about the upcoming edition of ScriptLab – TFL’s programme for filmmakers with all ranges of experience, dedicated to script development of a feature film project at an early stage.

TorinoFilmLab welcomes a new European partner: the Lviv Film Commission (Ukraine), a department of Lviv’s Palace of Culture. Lviv Film Commission is an official city organization aimed to promote and adapt Lviv to filming processes as well as to provide consultancy services on film industry.

Thanks to this collaboration, the first workshop of ScriptLab will be held from March 19th to March 25th in the city of Lviv.

On top of the work on the projects, the week-long residency will foresee several parallel activities specially designed for Ukrainian professionals, such as masterclasses and networking moments with our participants.

After the second workshop in June, the programme will culminate at the TFL Meeting Event 2020, with the presentation of the projects and the professionals trained within the scheme to delegates of the film industry.

We are also glad to present the team of tutors accompanying the participants along the 9-month development process.

Franz Rodenkirchen (Germany), Françoise von Roy (Germany), Maria Solrun (Iceland) and Rasmus Horskjær (Denmark) will pursue their collaboration for another edition, each of them leading a group of 4 projects and a story editing trainee. They will be joined by script consultant and scriptwriter Philippe Barrière (France). Philippe was trained as a story editor in ScriptLab 2014. His work includes MADE IN BANGLADESH by Rubaiyat Hossain – recipient of the TFL Audience Design Fund 2018 –, among others.

20 projects will be selected for ScriptLab 2020, including one project from the Flanders region of Belgium and one project from Switzerland, thanks to our partnership with VAF – Flanders Audiovisual Fund and Swiss Films. 5 film professionals will also join the programme as Story Editor trainees. The list of selected participants will be announced in February.
