Starting the year with 3 premieres in Rotterdam

December 20, 2022

We already started thinking of the new year and – in particular – of the TFLfilms we will watch for the first time in 2023. The International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR)taking place between 15th January and 5th February, will provide us with three opportunities to enjoy films that grew within the imaginary walls of TorinoFilmLab.

BIG SCREEN COMPETITION
The main section of the festival will host the world premiere of LUKA by Jessica Woodworth, written together with the ScriptLab class of 2017. As described by the festival: Jessica Woodworth's take on Dino Buzzati's much-lauded The Tartar Steppe crafts a fantasy of post-truth lunacy that perhaps reflects today more closely than is comfortable.

HARBOUR
Within this section, echoing Rotterdam’s port city identity, there will be the screening of ALIEN FOOD (part of FrameWork 2013) directed by the Turinese Giorgio Cugno who built a story set between reality and hallucination, fantasy and terror.
Not premieres but still TFLfilms part of HarbourPAMFIR by Dmytro Sukholytkyy-Sobchuk and SUDDENLY by Melisa Önel.

BRIGHT FUTURE
This selection of feature-length debuts includes TIGRU by Andrei Tanase, a film developed as part of FeatureLab in 2019 telling the story of Vera, a small-town zoo veterinarian that has to search for an escaped tiger while going through an emotional breakdown.

In the picture: a still from TIGRU.
