About us
TorinoFilmLab is a year-round, international laboratory that supports emerging talents from all over the world working on their first and second feature films, through training, development and funding activities.
Linked to the Torino Film Festival, TorinoFilmLab is promoted by the main film institutions established in Turin and Piedmont - Museo Nazionale del Cinema and Film Commission Torino Piemonte.
TorinoFilmLab started in 2008 with an annual budget of 1.000.000 Euro for all activities, granted by the Ministero per i Beni e le Attività Culturali, Regione Piemonte and Città di Torino.

TorinoFilmLab runs several activities and offers various forms of support in each of this fields.
The training initiatives Script&Pitch and Writer’s Room, as well as the pre-production- and development-focused FrameWork programme run parallel during the year. They all reach their conclusive moment at the TorinoFilmLab Final Meeting Event in November during the Torino Film Festival, when projects are presented to a selected group of producers, sales agents, distributors and other professionals from all over the world working in independent filmmaking.
On this occasion a group of decision makers assigns up to six Development Awards, that allow filmmakers coming from Script&Pitch to work on their projects for another year within TorinoFilmLab’s FrameWork programme. Script&Pitch participants also run for the special "International Relations ARTE Prize" (6.000 Euro). The TorinoFilmLab Advisory Board also assigns a number of Production Awards (from 50.000 Euro to 200.000 Euro) to the best projects coming from the FrameWork programme. There are also an Audience Award (30.000 Euro) and a Post Production Award (enabling a producer to attend the EP2C training programme).
The development-focused Interchange programme sees its activities running throughout the year, and reaches its conclusion with a public presentation of the projects at the Dubai International Film Festival in December.
Script&Pitch
Script&Pitch is an advanced script development course for scriptwriters, directors and story editors from all over the world. The course is made of 3 residential week-long workshops, 2 on-line sessions and 1 Alumni meeting. It follows the entire scriptwriting process from generating ideas and structuring the material through first and second drafts, up to the final pitch in front of producers and sales agents invited to the TFL Meeting Event.
Writer’s Room
The Writer's Room focuses on the dynamics of developing a pre-selected transmedia project in a team. The selected group works together with the author under the guidance of a tutor through 10 months of development, thereby experimenting the team process and exploring ways on how to best develop a transmedia project. The group will present the results of their work at the TFL Meeting Event.
FrameWork
FrameWork supports emerging international talent with individually tailored tools for development, financing and marketing. The programme assists projects and assesses both content and production strategies through 2 residential workshops, individual meetings and on-line sessions that are defined during the process. At the end of the programme all projects are pitched in front of producers and sales agents invited to the TFL Meeting Event.
Interchange
The aim of Interchange is to build cooperation between film professionals from Europe and the Arab World by selecting teams of writer/director and producer working on a fiction feature film, as well as trainee script consultants, and bringing them together for 2 residential workshops, one in Torino in Spring and one in Dubai in December. Participants work together on their projects under the expert guidance of international tutors. Interchange ends with a presentation of the projects at the Dubai International Film Festival.
Il TorinoFilmLab è un laboratorio internazionale che sostiene i talenti emergenti di tutto il mondo nella preparazione e realizzazione delle loro opere prime e seconde, attraverso attività di formazione, sviluppo e finanziamento.
Legato al Torino Film Festival, il TorinoFilmLab è promosso dalle principali istituzioni cinematografiche di Torino e del Piemonte - Museo Nazionale del Cinema e Film Commission Torino Piemonte.

Il TorinoFilmLab porta avanti diverse attività e offre varie forme di sostegno in ciascuno di questi ambiti.
Le iniziative più legate alla formazione, Script&Pitch e Writer’s Room, così come il programma Frame Work, focalizzato sullo sviluppo e sulla pre-produzione, si svolgono in parallelo nel corso dell’anno. Il momento conclusivo di tutti questi percorsi è il Final Meeting Event del TorinoFilmLab che si svolge a novembre durante il Torino Film Festival: qui i progetti vengono presentati a un gruppo selezionato di produttori, sales agents, distributori e altri professionisti del cinema indipendente invitati da tutto il mondo.
In questa occasione un gruppo di decision-maker assegna fino a sei Development Awards, che permettono ad altrettanti sceneggiatori provenienti da Script&Pitch di continuare a lavorare sui loro progetti per un altro anno all’interno del programma FrameWork del TorinoFilmLab. I partecipanti di Script&Pitch concorrono anche all'assegnazione dell'International Relations ARTE Prize (6.000 Euro). L’Advisory Board assegna anche alcuni Production Awards (da 50.000 a 200.000 Euro) ai migliori progetti che hanno partecipato a FrameWork. Ci sono inoltre un Audience Award (30.000 Euro) e un Post Production Award (che consente al produttore di uno dei progetti di partecipare al corso EP2C).
Le attività del programma Interchange, focalizzato sullo sviluppo, si svolgono nel corso dell’anno e si concludono con una presentazione pubblica dei progetti al Dubai International Film Festival a dicembre.
Script&Pitch
Script&Pitch è un corso avanzato di sviluppo di sceneggiature per sceneggiatori, registi e story editor di tutto il mondo. Il corso è formato da 3 workshop residenziali, 2 sessioni on-line e 1 Alumni meeting. Segue l’intero processo di sviluppo di una sceneggiatura dalla genesi delle idee alla loro strutturazione, attraverso una prima e seconda stesura, fino a un pitch finale di fronte a produttori e agenti di vendita invitati al TFL Meeting Event.
Writer’s Room
Il programma Writer's Room si concentra sulle dinamiche di sviluppo di un progetto trans media all’interno di un gruppo di lavoro. Il gruppo selezionato lavora insieme all’autore sotto la guida di un tutor per 10 mesi, sperimentando il processo di lavoro collettivo ed esplorando le migliori modalità di sviluppo di un progetto trans media. Il gruppo presenterà i risultati del proprio lavoro al TFL Meeting Event.
FrameWork
FrameWork sostiene i talenti internazionali emergenti con strumenti personalizzati per lo sviluppo, il finanziamento e il marketing. Il programma supporta i progetti, valutandone sia i contenuti sia le strategie di produzione durante 2 workshop, incontri individuali e sessioni on-line che vengono definiti durante il processo. Alla fine del programma tutti i progetti sono presentati con un pitch di fronte a produttori e agenti di vendite invitati al TFL Meeting Event.
Interchange
Lo scopo di Interchange è favorire la cooperazione tra professionisti del cinema europei e del mondo arabo selezionando team di uno sceneggiatore/regista e un produttore che stiano sviluppando un lungometraggio di finzione, e allievi script consultant, e farli lavorare insieme durante 2 workshop, uno a Torino in primavera e uno a Dubai a dicembre. I partecipanti lavorano in gruppo sui loro progetti sotto la guida esperta di tutor internazionali. Interchange di conclude con una presentazione dei progetti al Dubai International Film Festival.
