Development
TorinoFilmLab supports emerging international talent with individually tailored tools for development, financing and marketing.
The programme lasts 9 months (from March to November), assisting projects and assessing both content and production strategies through 3 residential workshops, individual meetings and on line sessions that are defined during
Through close dialog with each core team, TorinoFilmLab works to define each project’s particular needs and aims in order to enhance and strengthen its resources and opportunities. Intense script and project development increases the momentum of the projects in reaching the production stage. After studying the most feasible production strategies, each project-team will have the coordinated efforts of the TorinoFilmLab at their disposal throughout the year.
All projects will be pitched in front of producers and sales agents who will be invited to a meeting event on November 2009, during the next Torino Film Festival. On this occasion, a Jury composed of TorinoFilmLab’s Advisory Board will assign a number of Production Awards to the best projects that have been developed. Selected projects will be granted a minimum of 50,000 Euros and a maximum of 200,000 Euros.
Who is invited to participate?
Up to 10 projects are invited each year to enter the Development program. 5 come from the Training program, after receiving the Development Award, and up to 5 are scouted and directly invited by TorinoFilmLab’s selection experts. The invitation to participate is addressed to both the scriptwriter and the producer of each project .
There is no call for applications per se and therefore no application form. Projects that will directly enter the development stage may participate by invitation only, after having been scouted by TorinoFilmLab's selection team.
Projects must have a development and production plan, and have to be shot only later than November of the participation year.
Scriptwriters and producers must confirm their availability for the workshops and the final pitch.
The working language of all Development meetings and events is English; thus, a good knowledge of English is essential in order to participate.
