A LAND IMAGINED wins the Golden Leopard in Locarno!

August 11, 2018

We are thrilled to announce that A LAND IMAGINED by YEO Siew Hua, supported by TorinoFilmLab's Audience Design Fund won the Golden Leopard, top honour of the International Competition of the 71st Locarno Festival. This marks the second time a TFL-supported film is awarded the prestigious Award in the last 3 editions, after GODLESS by Ralitza Petrova triumphing in 2016.

A co-production between Akanga Film Asia (Singapore), Films de Force Majeure (France) and Volya Films (Netherlands), A LAND IMAGINED tells the story of a migrant worker from China who goes missing at a Singapore land reclamation site after suffering from insomnia: the trail leads the police to discover more than just history buried under all that sand.

The Singaporean director's second feature is supported by the TFL Audience Design Fund with € 40.000 and provided with Audience Design consultations by TFL experts.

Moreover, A LAND IMAGINED's Luna Kwok won the film critics' award "Boccalino d'Oro" for Best Actress. And we also congratulate Duccio Chiarini for winning the "Boccalino" for Best Film with his TFL-supported THE GUEST, which premiered on the Piazza Grande!
