TFL boosts its activities in 2019 with renewed structure, enlarged international team

September 4, 2018

After 10 intense years of successful activity in the fields of training, development and funding focused on the discovery and support of worldwide emerging film talents, with almost 100 completed films and 700 professionals trained in the last decade, TorinoFilmLab radically renovates its structure.

In 2019 the lab will expand its team, creating a set of new executive roles in order to better tackle the challenges of its growing size and its wide scope of endeavours.

When it comes to TFL’s training and development programmes, the new structure will foresee the presence of two Curators leading the scouting and pre-selection processes respectively for ScriptLab and FeatureLab worldwide; while three Heads of Studies will be in charge of the pedagogical aspects of these two programmes, as well as of SeriesLab.

Moreover, the new figure of the Head of Industry will manage the relations with the film industry and the partner organizations, and will design and oversee TorinoFilmLab’s co-production forum, the TFL Meeting Event.

Strategic Consultant will complete the structure, with the role of providing overall support in shaping the long-term vision for the evolution of the Turin-based lab promoted by Museo Nazionale del Cinema.

The names of the professionals appointed for these roles will be announced in the fall.

In this revolutionized structure, the content-related responsibilities currently pertaining to the Artistic Director will be divided in different areas and distributed among several figures to better face the challenges of the growing international dimension of TFL, and the position will be separated into different roles. Artistic Director Matthieu Darras will bid farewell to TorinoFilmLab at the end of 2018. We would therefore like to express our most heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to Matthieu, for sharing TorinoFilmLab’s journey since its foundation and for contributing to making it the unique talent-fostering community it became over the years.
