TFL scores again: SUNSET and TEL AVIV ON FIRE awarded in Venice

September 10, 2018

After conquering top prizes at Berlinale, Cannes Critics’ Week and Locarno Festival, TorinoFilmLab continues its extraordinary year of successes with SUNSET by László Nemes, which was awarded the FIPRESCI Prize at the Venice Film Festival 2018.

Developed within ScriptLab 2012 (former Script&Pitch) and FeatureLab 2015 (former FrameWork), SUNSET was financially supported by TFL trough the TFL Production Award (€ 50.000). László Nemes’ second feature film project, after the Oscar-winning THE SON OF SAUL, was co-written together with TFL Alumni Clara Royer and Matthieu Taponier. The film is the result of a co-production between Laokoon Filmgroup (Hungary) and Playtime Productions (France), with the support of the Hungarian Film Fund.

Moreover, Sameh Zoabi’s second feature film TEL AVIV ON FIRE (LU/FR/IL/BE) won Best Actor (Kais Nashif) in the Orizzonti section as well as the Interfilm Award for Promoting Interreligious Dialogue by the International Interchurch Film Organisation. The project was supported trough the TFL Audience Design Fund 2018 (€ 40.000) and provided with Audience Design consultations by TFL experts.

Last but not least, we are glad to share that Syrian/French TFL Alumna Soudade Kaadan’s first feature film THE DAY I LOST MY SHADOW won the Lion of the Future - “Luigi De Laurentiis” Award for a Debut Film in the Orizzonti section.

The whole TorinoFilmLab staff congratulates the teams!
