TFL launches ScriptLab 2019 & welcomes new Head of Studies, Eva Svenstedt Ward

October 10, 2018

TorinoFilmLab is glad to launch the new call for applications for our flagship script development programme ScriptLab, and to unveil the first name among the new executive roles that will integrate TFL’s revamped structure: we are thrilled to welcome on board as ScriptLab Head of Studies our long-time collaborator Eva Svenstedt Ward.

Hailing from Sweden, Eva has been part of the TorinoFilmLab family since 2012, working as tutor for book-to-screen adaptation development programme AdaptLab as well as for ScriptLab itself. With a background in theatre, film and television, Eva spent nearly 15 years as producer and development executive for Sweden's national broadcaster, SVT. Among others, Eva has been involved as script and story consultant in Emmy Award-winning The Millennium Trilogy and as Executive Script Editor in the 6 feature film adaptations of novels by Liza Marklund. Eva Svenstedt Ward’s high-profile industry experience in the script development and story editing fields, combined with her track record as an international tutor/trainer make her a natural match for her new role as ScriptLab Head of Studies, which puts her in charge of overseeing the pedagogical aspects of the programme.

The deadline to apply for ScriptLab 2019 is December 1st, 2018. We are looking for 20 projects of feature films at an early stage of development and 5 story editors!

Open to filmmakers from all over the world, ScriptLab is dedicated to scriptwriters and directors developing feature film projects at an early stage, as well as to professionals interested in being trained as story editors or in gaining an insight into the script development process. From March to November 2019, participants will gather for 3 week-long residential workshops, and work in groups under the guidance of internationally experienced tutors.

We would like to thank the Greek Film Centre, which for the second consecutive year will host the first workshop of the programme and support the participation of one Greek project in the training.

Besides, we are pleased to confirm the partnerships with BEKRAF – Indonesian Agency for Creative EconomyCinema do Brasil, Polish Film Institute, and VAF – Flanders Audiovisual Fund, thanks to which ScriptLab 2019 will welcome one project from each of the following regions: Indonesia, Brazil, Poland and the Flanders region of Belgium. Last but not least we are glad to welcome on board new partner Swiss Films, which for the first time will support the participation of a Swiss filmmaker in the programme.
