TFL Meeting Event 2018: 10 “TFL Coming Soon” films in progress unveiled

October 29, 2018

As the 11th edition of the TFL Meeting Event (23-24 November) approaches, we are very excited to announce the selection for our TFL Coming Soon 2018 work-in-progress showcase, dedicated to presenting films developed within TorinoFilmLab’s programmes that are in their final completion stages, to a selected industry audience of sales agents, distributors and festival representatives.

Acclaimed works that were previewed at last year’s TFL Coming Soon include this year’s Berlinale Golden Bear-winner and GWFF Best First Feature Award TOUCH ME NOT by Adina Pintilie, double-Silver Bear and FIPRESCI Prize winner THE HEIRESSES by Marcelo Martinessi, as well as Cannes Critics’ Week Grand Prize-winner DIAMANTINO by Gabriel Abrantes & Daniel Schmidt, and Locarno Piazza Grande entry THE GUEST by Duccio Chiarini.

The 2018 line-up will feature 3 debuts and 7 films from more experienced directors. Half of the films are still looking for a sales agent.

The “debutantes” include the European multi-awarded short film helmers Marie Grahtø and Jeanette Nordahl, both hailing from Denmark, and Greek director Siamak Etemadi. The second-time fiction feature directors are Shahrbanoo Sadat (Afghanistan) and Massoud Bakhshi (Iran) – who both premiered their first features at the Cannes Directors’ Fortnight, Carlos Armella (Mexico) and Tudor Cristian Jurgiu (Romania). Established filmmakers Burhan Qurbani (Afghanistan/Germany), Rubaiyat Hossain (Bangladesh) and Alejandro Fernández Almendras (Chile) complete the line-up.

The 10 films to be presented at TFL Coming Soon 2018 are:

- AND THEY MAY STILL BE ALIVE TODAY (Romania/Greece) by Tudor Cristian Jurgiu. Producer: Libra Film – Romania.
