TFL Meeting Event 2018: discover the FeatureLab Awards & Jury

The TFL Meeting Event 2018 (23-24 November) is only 2 weeks away, and we are delighted to unveil the composition of this year’s Jury, whose members will assign several TFL Production and Co-Production Awards to the best FeatureLab projects, to be announced during the Awards Ceremony that will be held at Scuola Holden on the 24th of November at 7.30 pm.

The international Jury will be composed of Cameron Bailey (Canada), Artistic Director & Co-Head of the Toronto International Film Festival; festival programmer and co-production expert Teresa Cavina (Italy); multi-awarded director, producer and TFL Alumnus Babak Jalali (Iran/United Kingdom); producer and TFL Alumna Ankica Jurić Tilić (Croatia), and Paolo Moretti (France), newly appointed General Delegate of the Cannes Directors’ Fortnight.

The TFL Production Awards are grants given to enable the making of the film; similarly, the Co-Production Awards, supported by Creative Europe – MEDIA, consist in prizes supporting the production of the film, but will be assigned to projects that are co-productions between at least one company based in a Creative Europe – MEDIA country and one company based in a country that is neither member of Creative Europe – MEDIA nor of Eurimages.

Additionally, the FeatureLab 2018 participants will vie for three collateral prizes kindly offered by TFL’s associated partners.

The Amsterdam Post Lab Award will allow the producer of the winning project to participate in the APostLab workshop on post-production and will offer a grant in post-production services at the Filmmore facilities either in Amsterdam or in Brussels and a grant to be spent in the Warnier-Posta sound studio in Amsterdam.

The Sub-Ti Award will provide the winning project with English or Italian or German subtitles, offered by Sub-Ti Ltd (London).

In order to promote accessible contents of the film for audiences with sensory disabilities, thanks to the Sub-Ti Access Award, Sub-Ti Access Srl (Turin) will offer a FeatureLab project subtitles for the deaf and hearing impaired, and audio description for the blind and visually impaired, with audio subtitles, in English or Italian.

The FeatureLab 2018 line-up comprises 10 projects, 7 of which are debuts and 2 second feature films; 6 of them are directed by women and 4 by men, and female producers are also dominant in the selection.

- RIFT IN THE ICE by Maja Miloš (Serbia/Italy/Slovenia) – 2nd FEATURE

- SMALL BODY by Laura Samani (Italy/Slovenia) – DEBUT

- THE SETTLERS by Felipe Gálvez; co-written by Antonia Girardi (Chile/Argentina/Denmark) – DEBUT

- THE WOODCUTTER STORY by Mikko Myllylahti (Finland) – DEBUT

- THREE by Juanjo Giménez; co-written by Pere Altimira (Spain/France) – 2nd FEATURE

- TITANIC OCEAN by Konstantina Kotzamani (Greece) – DEBUT

- YOU ARE THERE by Nicole Midori Woodford (Singapore/Japan) – DEBUT

- YUNI by Kamila Andini; co-written by Prima Rusdi (Norway/Malaysia/Indonesia)

The TFL Meeting Event will also see the presence of the four trainees of the FeatureLab – audience design programme: Alban de Fraipont (Belgium), Nanna Lykke (Denmark), Anna Ragagnin (Italy), and Róbert Vámos (Hungary).
