Two #TFLfilms awarded at the Venice Film Festival 2021

September 13, 2021

Last Saturday we didn’t miss a bit of the Award Ceremony of the 78th Venice Film Festival – streamed live from the Lido.

We ended up pretty proud of our #TFLcommunity since two #TFLfilms selected among the 19 Orizzonti titles brought home a prize.

The Best Actor award has been given to Piseth Chhun, the protagonist of WHITE BUILDING by Kavich Neang (TFL Audience Design Fund 2020 - € 45.000).

While the most prestigious award of the category - celebrating the Best Film - went to PILGRIMS, directed by the Lithuanian filmmaker Laurynas Bareiša. The film – developed within FeatureLab 2019 – tells the story of Indre and Paulius that travel to a small town where a gruesome crime was committed, learning it is not as easy as expected to revisit the past.

Great success in Venice also for the #TFL alumni, that joined the festival with their new films.

Michelangelo Frammartino – whose #TFLfilm “Le Quattro Volte” premiered in Cannes in 2010 – got the Special Jury Prize for his work “Il Buco”; Monica Stan’s film “Imaculat” won both the GdA Director's Award and the Luigi De Laurentis Leone Del Futuro and Aly Muritiba got the BNL Gruppo BNP Paribas People's Choice award for "Deserto Particular".

Congratulations to the teams, looking forward to watching the films over and over – and hopefully – on the big screen!
