Bryn Chainey (*1986) is a British-born filmmaker based in Sydney. He wrote and directed theatre in his teens before moving into film. His work has dealt primarily with youth, the imagination, isolation, and the struggle for empathy.

In 2010 he received the emerging director's prize of the Berlinale Talent Campus for his absurdist sci-fi "Jonah and the Vicarious Nature of Homesickness". His next film, "Moritz and the Woodwose", a fantasy drama made in the forests around Berlin, screened in over sixty film festivals, including Warsaw and Edinburgh.

In 2014 he attended the TFL Script&Pitch workshop, developing the coming-of-age comedy "Nothing Else Mattress" which was then selected for Framework in 2015.
