François d'Artemare established in 1996 the Portuguese film company Filmes do Tejo, nowadays running a library of more than 70 titles — features, documentaries and shorts — and among them many debut films as Margarida Cardoso’s, Serge Trefaut’s, Inês de Medeiros’s and recently João Salaviza.

In 2001 he founded the Paris-based company Les Films de l’Après-Midi and produced films from all over the world: Bosnia (CHILDRENS OF SARAJEVO – Mention of the Jury Un Certain Regard, Cannes 2012 - SNOW by Aida Begic – International Critics’ Week Grand Prix Award, Cannes 2008), Guinea-Bissau (THE CHILDREN’S REPUBLIC by Flora Gomes), Angola (THE HERO by Zeze Gamboa - World Cinema Dramatic Jury Prize at Sundance Film Festival 2005) and Portugal (the three feature by Manoel de Oliveira : "Christopher Colombus, The Enigma" – 2007, "Eccentricities of a blond-hair girl" – 2009, "The strange case of Angelica" – 2010).

He produced in 2015 the first feature film of João Salaviza, "Montanha", presented at Venice in september and winner of the first prize at the Montpellier Film Festival; the feature film by Radu Muntean, "One Floor Below", presented at UCR at Cannes 2015; as the short movie by Hiwot Admasu Getaneh "New Eyes", presented at Orizzonti Venice and TIFF. He is in preparation of a film by Balint Kenyeres, "Hier", of the next feature film of João Canijo, "Fatima", and of the next feature film by Ricky Rijneke "The Hunter’s son".
François d’Artemare develops also several French-spoken films by talented new-comers directors and he’s strongly committed to support young filmmakers as confirmed directors from all around the world.
