biography

Ayman El Amir is an Egyptian filmmaker. El Amir got an MFA degree in filmmaking with a double major in both film production and screenwriting from the Red Sea Institute for Cinematic Arts in Jordan in 2013. During the same year, El Amir founded a film production program in the Department of Visual and Digital Production of the Faculty of Architecture and Design in Saudi Arabia’s Effat University.

His filmography includes writing, directing and producing fiction and documentary films that have screened in numerous international film festivals. Recently, he wrote and co-directed the documentary HAPPILY EVER AFTER (with Nada Riyadh), which premiered at IDFA 2016.

Ayman implemented the Mahd Film Lab in 2016, a Cairo-based script development programme open to filmmakers working on Arab film projects and Arab-European co-production. He is also working as a script editor, including for TorinoFilmLab in the frame of FeatureLab and the TFL Extended activities.

One of his main intentions is to help the new generation of Egyptian filmmakers by providing them with the necessary knowledge and skills to work according to the international standards.
