Arne Kohlweyer was born in 1981 in Wolgast (Island of Usedom) and grew up in Berlin. In 2008 he finished his post-graduate studies in film directing at FAMU in Prague. Prior to that he studied photography in Graz, Austria, literature in Frankfurt/Oder and film theory at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden.
Arne has made various short films and directed for German televison. He was a Berlinale Talent in 2009 (Script Station) and 2010 (Talent Project Market). 2010/2011 he participated in the Academy for Children Media in Erfurt. Additionally Arne has been a participant of the European Short Pitch 2010, the Locarno Summer Academy 2012 and the Reykjavik Talent Lab 2012. In 2014 he took part in an 8-month training for story editors in the framework of the Torino Film Lab.
Arne is member of the German Screenwriter’s Guild (VDD) since 2010. He lives and works as an independent film professional in Halle/Saale, where is he currently head of development for 42film and in Berlin, where he is managing since 2011 the Script Station (Screenwriter’s project lab of Berlinale Talents).
