biography

After graduating a business school and a master’s degree of cultural mediation and international communication, Cécile Salin worked as coordinator at The International Confederation of Art Cinemas (CICAE). And then at the French Embassy in Vienna as Responsible for Audiovisual Mission where she was, among others, responsible for the Francophone Film Festival programme. She has been working at Diaphana in Paris since 2009, taking care of the acquisitions - both for coproduction and distribution.

Diaphana is an independent French distribution and production company founded in 1989 by Michel Saint-Jean. Since its creation, Diaphana has supported a certain idea of art house cinema, with the permanent concern to reach the broadest audience. Our purpose is both in finding new talents while developing long-lasting and loyal relationships with directors.
In twenty five years, more than two hundreds long features, animation films and documentaries have been distributed by Diaphana, alternating French movies (Robert Guédiguian, Dominik Moll, Nicole Garcia, Pierre Schoeller, Laurent Cantet, Quentin Dupieux….) with European (Jean-Pierre et Luc Dardenne, Andrea Arnold, Stephen Frears, Mike Leigh, Ken Loach, Jonathan Glazer, Christian Petzold, Aki Kaurismaki…) and other international directors (Alexander Payne, Xavier Dolan, BONG Joon-ho, LEE Chang-dong….).
