biography

Mikko Kuparinen (1979) has directed award-winning shorts and two features. His three last short films have all been awarded main prizes at international film festivals. The last one being SIROCCO, that won Grand Prix of Odense IFF in Denmark 2012. The award earned Kuparinen a nomination on the list of ”10 Directors to Watch” published by four leading Nordic film magazines. In 2010 Kuparinen directed the feature-length TV movie MOBILE HORROR. It was nominated for a Golden Venla (Finnish Emmy) in the category of best TV movie or mini-series. Kuparinen’s feature film directing debut came in 2012, when he directed a romantic comedy, BODY FAT INDEX OF LOVE, produced by Matila Rohr Nordisk and sold by LevelK. His English language directing (and also feature film writing) debut is 2 NIGHTS TILL MORNING. A Finnish-Lithuanian coproduction starring Cannes 2003 Best Actress winner Marie-Josee Croze, which won the award for the Best Director at Montreal FF and Best Film at Valladolid FF in the competition of 1st/2nd feature films. It has been sold to 15 countries so far.

LUCY LOVES DRAMA is a new Helsinki based film production company with three experienced and established producers:

OSKARI HUTTU has been working for the past years as a producer with Solar Films, Finland’s largest production company. Oskari has produced domestic box office hits, both fiction and documentaries. His biggest achievements so far is The Reunion, the largest Finnish blockbuster of 2015 that scored over 500k admissions domestically, and the critically acclaimed documentary Reindeerspotting (2010) that also won The State Prize of Information Publishing while being an audience favourite as well. Oskari has also a Best Picture Jussi nomination (the Finnish Oscars) for the movie Summertime (2014).

MARKO ANTILA has a background in TV and advertising. He has worked actively as a producer for over a decade. His previous projects include an award-winning feature 8-Ball (2013) by Aku Louhimies, and the documentary Alcan Highway (2013) by Aleksi Salmenperä. Marko also has a Finnish Best Picture nomination for 8-Ball. Before founding the company Lucy Loves Stories, Marko produced Mikko Kuparinen’s first international film 2 Nights till Morning (2015).

MIKKO RÄISÄNEN is one of the most experienced TV producers in Finland. He has been involved in the business since 1990s. In the field of feature films, Mikko acted as a co-producer in the award-winning Finnish-Estonian film Revolution of The Pigs (2004).
