biography

A graduate of Emerson College and the Canadian Film Center’s Director’s Lab, Elza’s first feature film, GRAVEYARD ALIVE, played in over 20 international film festivals including Fantasia, Fantasporto and Sitges, winning the Kodak Cinematography Award at the Slamdance Film Festival in.

Her second feature, GO IN THE WILDERNESS, premiered at the Festival du Nouveau Cinema and has played in various international film festivals. She has attended the Telluride Student Symposium, The TIFF Talent Lab, and the Berlinale Talent Campus. She is currently developing several feature films financed by Telefilm, SODEC, and CALQ. She lives in Montreal, Canada.

MIDNIGHT KINGDOM FILMS was founded in 2010. Its mandate is to produce works bold & strange. It envisions filmmaking as a mystical journey and every film as part of the deeper fabric of human mythology.
In 2013 it produced its first feature film, Go in the Wilderness (by director Elza Kephart), which went on to screen at international film festivals (Festival du Nouveau Cinema, Sarasota Film Festival) and garner critical acclaim. It is now available on itunes, Fandor, Seed & Spark, among other platforms.
In 2013 MKF began development on its second feature, Night of the Pendulum, written by Elza Kephart. It has since received three rounds of SODEC development financing, and was selected to the RVCQ Grand Flirt pitch program.
MKF is now developing feature scripts Fever and Les 3 Portes, which revolve around the themes of dreams, mysticism, and a reconnection to our nature, both physical and spiritual.
