biography

Ruben Thorkildsen is a Norwegian film producer and founder of Ape&Bjørn. He produced the Karlvoy Vary Crystal Globe winner "The Almost Man", and last year Prix Jeunesse winner "The Games". He is educated at the National Film School of Norway, and built his experience by line-producing the box office hits Twigson and Twigson ties the knot.

Ruben has co-produced Raoul Peck´s latest feature, "Murder in Pacot" (2014), that was selected for Toronto and Berlinale, and "Palestine Stereo", directed by Rashid Masarawi.

Currently he is developing a slate of new features and TV-dramas, as well as finalizing the financing of Joern Utkilen´s debut feature that will start shooting early 2015, and a new TV-series written and directed by Martin Lund.

Ape&Bjørn was founded in 2008 and is today owned by Ruben Thorkildsen, Martin Lund and Eikeland/Haug AS. After four years with short film productions and line producing of feature films like the box office hits "Knerten" ("Twigson") and "Knerten gifter seg" ("Twigson ties the knot"), Ape&Bjørn released it´s first feature "Mer eller mindre mann" ("The Almost Man") in 2012. The film world premiered in Karlovy Vary and took home the Crystal Globe for Best film and Best Male Actor.

Our latest production, the tv-series "Kampen" ("The Games"), won best fiction 7-11 at Prix Jeunesse International 2014. It also took 3rd place in Prize of the Children´s Jury at the same festival. It is now being remade in Canada, where they just finished shooting 40 episodes.

Our ambition is to produce director-driven content and build lasting relationships with original voices of our generation filmmakers. We are currently developing new projects with directors´ Martin Lund, Kaveh Tehrani, Joern Utkilen, Liv Karin Dahlstrøm and Guro Bruusgaard
