David Herdies is a Swedish producer and the founder of Momento Film. Herdies has produced over 25 feature documentaries and shorts that have been screened and awarded at festivals all over the world. Among his previous films can be mentioned MADRE by Simón Mesa Soto (Official Short Film Competition, Cannes 2016), FRAGILITY by Ahang Bashi (Guldbagge for Best Newcomer and nominated for Best Film 2017), OUAGA GIRLS by Theresa Traore Dahlberg (60+ festivals), HAMADA by Eloy Domínguez Serén (IDFA 2018 and 11 awards) and TRANSNISTRA by Anna Eborn (Big Screen Award, IFFR and Dragon Award, GIFF 2019).

Herdies has several feature films in development, amongst which can be mentioned MAD¬AME LUNA written by Suha Arraf and Maurizio Braucci (GOMORRAH) and directed by Daniel Espinosa (MORBIUS, SAFE HOUSE), KAUTOKEINO written and directed by Isabella Eklöf (BORDER, HOLIDAY), and the adaptation of Johannes Anyuru’s award winning book THE RABBIT YARD, directed by Goran Kapetanovic. David Herdies is a member of the EAVE, ACE and Eurodoc networks, and was Producer on the Move in Cannes 2018.

Momento Film is an independent production company based in Stockholm, Sweden, founded by David Herdies in 2011. Momento strives to be a harbor for both established and new talent who wants to challenge the borders of filmmaking. Together with them, we produces author driven drama and documentary primarily for cinema.

We are currently working with directors and writers such as; Isabella Eklöf (Border, Holiday), Daniel Espinosa (Fast Cash, Morbius), Anna Eborn (Pine Ridge, Transnistra), Frida Kempff (Bathing Micky), Simón Mesa Soto (Leidi, Madre) and Maruicio Braucci (Gomorrah, Piraha).

Momento has positioned itself on the European market with high-profile documentaries and short films premiered and awarded at the most important film festivals. In 2018 HAMADA by Eloy Domínguez Serén premiered in First Appearance Competition at IDFA and has since then won 11 awards, in 2019 TRANSNISTRA by Anna Eborn has won both the Big Screen Competition in Rotterdam IFFR and Dragon Award for Best Documentary in Gothenburg IFF. Momento successfully moved into fiction in 2016 with MADRE by Simón Mesa Soto in the Official Cannes Short Film Competition and Frida Kempff’s DEAR KID which won at Stockholm IFF. Other recent releases include the Georgian drama co-production HORIZON by Tinatin Kajrishvili (Berlinale Panorama) as well as OUAGA GIRLS (opened theatrically in France, Spain, South Africa, UK & Sweden). The producers are part of the international producer’s workshops EAVE, ACE and Eurodoc, and in 2018 producer David Herdies was Producer on the Move in Cannes. In 2017 Momento Studio opened the subsidiary company Momento Studio, a full-service boutique sound studio, facilitating international co-productions.
