After graduating from University, Slovenian film director Sonja Prosenc attended both the Sarajevo and Berlinale Talents, co-founded the Monoo Production House and was selected for the TorinoFilmLab. Her award-winning and critically acclaimed first feature “The Tree” was the Slovenian candidate for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 2016. Her approach to film language has so far been appreciated by cinephiles and film critics alike and she has been selected by CIneuropa among eight most promising European female film directors. Her second feature film “History of Love” premiered at Karlovy Vary International Film Festival 2018 - Main Competition, where Grand Jury awarded it with Special Mention. The film also received two awards at Slovenian Film Festival 2018, Special Festival Prize at IFNF, was selected for Slamdance 2019 and other festivals around the globe.

Monoo film production company was co-founded by Rok Sečen and Sonja Prosenc. The first long feature film they produced, The Tree (2014), was awarded nationally and internationally, it was highly critically acclaimed and selected as the official Slovenian OSCAR submission 2016. In 2018 they completed highly anticipated History of Love (dir. by Sonja Prosenc), that premiered in the Main Competition at Karlovy Vary IFF 2018, where the Grand Jury awarded it with Special Mention. At Slovenian Film Festival 2018 the film received Special Film Achievement Award and Best Cinematography. The project also received several development awards (Re-act, TRL Espresso Award, Trieste, Rome, London; EAVE Award). It is a TorinoFilmLab project, produced between Slovenia, Norway and Italy and supported by Eurimages. In 2018 they are also working on the new film by a Bosnian director Ines Tanović Son (a coproduction od Bosnia, Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro) which is in production, and have a slate of films at different stages of production (development, shooting, postproduction).
