biography

Michel Sabbe has been writing for film and television for the better part of 15 years. He cut his teeth on police and whodunit series such as 'Witse' and 'Zone Stad' in the early noughties. He soon moved on to the high demands of dramedy with 'Jes!' (2009), a series about thirtysomethings looking for love and the meaning of life in Brussels. He has been moving back and forth between the serious and the seriously funny ever since. 'Strikers' offered a critical but often humorous look at the world of soccer. It earned a special mention from the 'séries du monde' jury at the Séries Mania festival in 2015. More recently he was the script editor on 'Ennemi Public' which won Cannes MIPTV's International Drama Competition in 2016 and subsequently sold all over the world. He co-wrote the film 'Swooni' (directed by Kaat Beels) which was selected for the Toronto International film Festival in 2011. 2017 saw the release of the film 'Blind Spot' (directed by Nabil Ben Yadir), which Michel co-wrote. Michel shares a love for all things genre with director Jeroen Dumoulein with whom he made two short films 'Dear granddad' (2005) and 'The Pond' (2014) and for whom he is currently developing a feature horror film set in the early 20th century. Michel also has a degree in civil engineering, but please don't hold that against him.
