Sofia Georgovassili grew up in Athens, Greece, where she also completed her Acting studies in 2007. As a thesp she won best Actress award in Seville European Film Festival 2010 for her lead part in MAVRO LIVADI (Black Field). Since 2013 she directs her own films. Her second short film PREPARATION was produced by Athina Tsangari's Haos Films and made its world premiere at Toronto International film festival, TIFF. It won Special Jury Mention at Athens IFF & Best Newcomer Director at Drama Short IFF and has been shown in numerous festivals around the world. She is now developing her first feature script under the name "Mignon" which was also part of Oxbelly director's lab, 2019 and won Artekino International prize at Sarajevo film festival, 2019.
