Aija Bērziņa started out in film as Assistant Director back in 2001, having had her education in European Film College in Ebeltoft, Denmark, and the Latvian Academy of Culture in Riga. Her first film as producer was the daring documentary by Ivars Zviedris – “Documentarian” (VFS Films, 2012) which was awarded Latvia’s national award for the best film and premiered at Dok Leipzig. Her next – and the first from TASSE FILM founded by herself and producer Alise Gelze – Renars Vimba feature fiction “Mellow Mud” (2016). Premiered at the Berlinale, it won a Crystal Bear for best film in the Generation 14plus program. Since 2014 Aija is also first chair the Film Council in Latvia, and since 2013 – president of the Film Producers Association of Latvia. In 2014 Aija founded the Riga International Film Festival.

TASSE FILM is a production company, founded in February 2011, that has announced itself as a strong administrative and creative team led by two producers – Aija Berzina (currently head of Producers Association in Latvia) and Alise Gelze (Mother I Love You - Grand Prix for The Best Film, Berlinale Generation Kpluss). The company’s main focus is production of feature films. Company's first feature-length production “Mellow Mud” had it's world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival and won a Crystal Bear for best film in the Generation 14plus sidebar. Presently TASSE FILM has released two more features: Madara Dislere’s “Paradise 89” (coproduction with Germany), Janis Nords’ “Foam at the Mouth” (coproduction with Poland and Lithuania). Juris Kursietis "Oleg" (coproduction with Lithuania and Belgium) is now at a post production, as well as several international feature projects with TASSE FILM as minority coproducer.
