Elias Ribeiro is a Brazilian film producer who has lived and worked in over 10 different countries. After relocating to Johannesburg in 2010, he pursued his MA in Film Producing and founded Urucu Media in 2011. His body of work spans a wide range of documentary and fiction projects that have premiered in competition at Berlinale, Tribeca, Montreal, Toronto, Beijing, Stockholm, London, Durban to name but a few. Specializing in international co-production and distribution, his work has attracted funding from Hubert Bals, Torino Film Lab, Arte, National and Regional Funders. Elias is an EAVE, Producer’s Network, Talents and TFL alumni. He speaks fluent English, Spanish, German and Portuguese.

Urucu is an independent production company with ties to Cape Town, Johannesburg and Rio de Janeiro. We're a small team of passionate people dedicated to nurturing authentic voices in South African film. Our focus is on international co-productions and distribution, and in the short time that we've been around, our projects have attracted private equity investment, public funding and sold content to top international broadcasters. Our work has showcased at over 50 film festivals including Cannes, Berlinale, Toronto, Locarno and Venice, and we remain comitted to bringing original and top-quality content to audiences worldwide.
