David Steiner is a French and Canadian writer-director and producer.

Lately he produced Katie Says Goodbye (an alumni of IFP Narrative Lab, then premiered in TIFF, and is Jane Schoettle #1 US Indie, selected in Rotterdam, Newport Beach, Deauville 2017, Stockholm IMPACT Award Winner, release April 2018), and co-exec produced James White (NEXT audience award winner Sundance 2015).

He has directed four shorts, two of which in English, his latest selected in HollyShorts (Oscar-Qualifying), Cinequest, Leiden, Miami, Worldfest Houston, San Jose, Richmond, St. Paul, garnering 9 nominations & 5 wins. He is currently in post-production on his 4th short film.

His latest feature screenplay, In our Image, was shortlisted by Sundance/Sloan's Grant Fellowship in 2016 and the Canadian Film Centre's 2017 Director's Lab and its official Black List review called it « a worthy successor to the seminal 2001: A Space Odyssey ». It was chosen to be developed as part of European residency FilmCamp by Sources2​.
