biography

Kristoffer Rus was born and raised in a Polish-Swedish family. He graduated from Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Arts and Wajda School in Warsaw. Kristoffer has directed festival-winning shorts like THE APPLE TREE (Audience Award at Gothenborg FF; Winner at Palm Springs FF; Official selection at Cannes Critics’ Week) and THE BIG LEAP (Palm Springs FF, Montreal World FF, Raindance FF). Rus has created several comedy TV-series for Polish television. He has even fought with Ingmar Bergman’s demons while directing SCENES FROM A MARRIAGE for the theatre stage.

Rus really feels at home when the humor gets black and the theme existential. His latest short THE NATURALS is a black comedy about how the release of the primal instincts, becomes a recipe for a successful relationship. It’s also a dynamic collaboration with screenwriter Jaroslaw Stawirej. The latter is also the author of the novel MASAKRA PROFANA, which they now are adapting for the big screen, together with producer Renata Czarnkowska-Listos. Kristoffer has been seeking for his individual cinematic voice through his short films and TV-productions. He now feels confident and ready for his full-length feature film debut. Masakra Profana was developed at Torino Film Lab.
