company profile

Founded in 2007, Film Forge is a Canadian production company helmed by director Andrew Cividino and producer Karen Harnisch. We strive to produce thematically complex, formally innovative cinema and episodic television from our home base in Toronto, Canada, collaborating with writers and directors whose stories possess a strong sense of place and unique creative perspective. Our work, including our feature SLEEPING GIANT, has competed at some of the world’s most prestigious film festivals, including Cannes, Locarno, Toronto, Busan, Karlovy Vary, and Clermont-Ferrand. Cividino is an alumnus of the Sundance Lab, TIFF Talent Lab, and TIFF’s Len Blum Fellowship, while Harnisch is an alumna of TIFF STUDIO and the EAVE Producers Workshop.

In addition to SLEEPING GIANT, our previous work includes Drew Lint's 2018 feature debut M/M, which premiered at the 2018 Slamdance Film Festival and continued to screen at VIFF, Festival Du Nouveau Cinéma, Guadalajara International Film Festival, among others, FAIL TO APPEAR, from director Antoine Bourges, which debuted at VIFF in 2017 and played Art of the Real at Lincoln Centre, BAFICI, and Cinéma du Réel at the Pompidou Centre. Film Forge is currently in post-production on BALDY, the fourth feature from directors Calvin Thomas and Yonah Lewis, which follows a young student as she fakes cancer, starring Kacey Rohl, Amber Anderson and Connor Jessup.

Upcoming projects include an adaptation of Yann Martel’s short story WE ATE THE CHILDREN LAST as an episodic series currently in development with broadcaster Bell Media (ORPHAN BLACK), to be directed by Andrew Cividino. Our slate also includes Cividino's upcoming feature, CUTBLOCK, set in the old growth forests of British Columbia; MIZERIA, director Eva Michon's debut feature; and Brandon Cronenberg's latest psychological thriller, INFINITY POOL.
