Maura Delpero was born in Bozen. After graduating in literature in Bologna and Paris, she studied dramaturgy and screenplay in Buenos Aires. With her documentaries exploring the limit between fiction and non fiction she won prices in the Torino Film Festival and in several other festivals, receiving a nomination at the David di Donatello. The script of her last documentary Nadea and Sveta won the Special Jury Mention of the Solinas Award, the most important Italian screenplay competition.

During four years she has been teaching cinema in a centre for teenage mothers in Buenos Aires which inspired her to write her first fiction film Hogar. With this project she was one of the ten scriptwriters selected for the Berlinale Script Station 2015. The next year, the project participated to When East Meets West in Trieste and to the San Sebastian Film Festival where it was awarded
with the ARTE International Prize and with the Mention for the Best Project.

Maura fluently speaks Italian, Spanish, German, French and English.
