biography

Michelle is an NFTS graduate, BAFTA nominated and BIFA winning producer currently working across features, TV and shorts. She runs Escape Films and has projects in development with the BFI, Sky Cinema, Creative England, Film4 and BBC Films. Her company is a recent recipient of a Vision award, given by the BFI to aid her work in developing new talent and optioning and commissioning material.

Michelle's first feature film as sole producer was BIFA winning "In Our Name", which was released in cinemas in the United Kingdom and United States. She was a co-producer on the UK hit "Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll" and will be shooting her feature "Retreat" in 2020.

Michelle has produced numerous award-winning shorts that have played in competition in A-list festivals including Cannes, Tribeca and SXSW as well as being picked up for online distribution by Vice. Most recently her short "The Big Day" won the Best Short BIFA in 2018 and Naptha, which she executive produced for Film4 played in Cannes in Critic’s Week 2019. She has also produced content for major brands such as Samsung, Sony and NVIDIA and charities such as Teach First.

Escape Films launched with the multi-award winning feature film "In Our Name" and is currently concentrating on producing feature films and television with international appeal. Our most recent productions premiered in competition in Cannes (2017, Critics Week), SXSW (2018) and won were nominated for British Independent Film Awards (2018).

We have a thirst for original stories and innovative ways of telling them. We love the talent we work with and seek to create a nurturing environment in which to develop projects to their maximum creative and commercial potential.

Escape Films is currently supported by the BFI’s Visions Awards and was named one of Creative England’s top 50 Creative Companies in 2017.
