Since 2001 Anja Dörken works as a funding executive for the film funding agency Medienboard Berlin Brandenburg GmbH.
Her focus is on national and international film production and also on film school graduates and newcomers.
Furthermore she is a jury member of the Kuratorium Junger Deutscher Film.

Anja Dörken started her professional career as a bookseller. She graduated at the University of Essen with an MA in Communication Studies, German literature and Political Science. After graduating she worked as assistant director and production manager in advertising, music and image film production in Hamburg and Düsseldorf.

Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg is the main institution for the film and media industry in the German capital region, representing Berlin-Brandenburg as a key media location at markets and festivals in Germany and abroad and supporting cross-border and cross-industry networking.
The Film Funding division funds films, high-end drama series and film-related projects in the categories of script and project development, production, and distribution and sales, as well as additional projects. It provides advice for filmmakers on financial questions and works to ensure the film industry’s further artistic and business development.

The New Media Funding division provides funding for innovative audiovisual projects (e.g. games, multiplatform content, virtual and augmented reality) and serial formats (fiction, entertainment and factual). Furthermore, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg provides funding for regional media-related projects and events such as prizes, competitions, festivals, events and conferences.
