company profile

In 2013, Damien Megherbi and Justin Pechberty founded the production and distribution company Les Valseurs. In January 2020, they received a double Oscar and César nomination with the short film Nefta Football Club by Yves Piat. The film had previously won more than 70 festival awards, including the Audience Award in Clermont-Ferrand.

These nominations follow on from a year 2019 marked by multiple awards such as the César for Best Animated Short Film for Wicked Girl by Ayce Kartal, the Best Short Film Award at the Cannes Critics' Week for She Runs by Qiu Yang, but also the selection of The Diver by Australians Michael Leonard & Jamie Helmer at the Venice Mostra and many prestigious selections for Guaxuma by Nara Normande such as Toronto, IDFA and Annecy.

Building on these early successes, the production and distribution company is now involved in the production of feature films. In 2019, three debut films were released. Fendas by Carlos Segundo (FIDMarseille), A dog’s death by Matías Ganz (Tallinn Black Nights, Slamdance) and After your revolt, your vote, a Burkinabe documentary by Kiswendsida Parfait Kaboré (IDFA).

Les Valseurs are currently working on several French and international feature film projects, including Sem Coração by Nara Normande & Tião (Ateliers d'Angers 2019, Torino Feature Lab 2020) and The animal’s christmas, a pre-school animated film directed by a collective of six directors.

At the same time, Les Valseurs is developing a feature film distribution branch. These include Arrythmia by Boris Khlebnikov and Charlotte a du fun by Sophie Lorain. At the beginning of 2020, they released Sarah Marx's The truck, which was selected in Orizzonti competition at the Venice Film Festival, as well as Marios Piperides' Cypriot political comedy
Smuggling Hendrix. Les Valseurs will soon release Carlo Sironi's Sole (winner of the Lanterna Magica Award at the 2019 Venice Film Festival, Antigone d'Or at Cinemed).
