Eva Kamchevska

North Macedonia

Biography

Eva Kamchevska is born and raised in a small country not a lot of people outside Europe heard of – Macedonia. Being an only child wasn’t a lonely life for Eva. That’s because she had her movies and TV. In her junior high she was always studying with the TV on. She had to divide her attention between the boring school books and the TV. And that went on till she enrolled in the ‘Faculty of Dramatic Arts’. Being a theatre and film student, she could do the things she most loved as part of the school assignments and not feel guilty about it. Soon after graduating from the Academy, Eva starts working in the highest rated private TV station in her hometown – A1. She refers to her first job as a dream job. Her role was to watch movies and TV shows and then make trailers out of them. It was a pretty smooth start, but after some time she wanted something more. She was hired by a different TV house as a scriptwriter of an existing Macedonian folk stories. It was the first time to see something she wrote to be shot. Around 50 scripts were shot and aired. Afterwards, she was hired by a production to work as a scriptwriter on a shows like Macedonian Idol and Dancing with the stars. In the meantime, two of her short scripts got funded, one of them is already shot, the other one is in pre – production. Always wanting to learn more, Eva decides to cross the ocean and get back to the studying. That is how she comes to VFS (Vancouver Film School), into the Writing for Film and TV program. From there, she hopes to work in her home country again, but also make contacts around the world and keep an open mind for collaborations. Her goal is to make films and TV that mean something, that touch people, make the smile or leave them feel cathartic after a good cry. She is always searching for that kind of a movie or a show. And if the house wouldn’t need dusting from time to time that would be all she would ever do with her time.
