biography

Born in Moscow, Katia Khazak studied Cinema and Cultural Management in Sorbonne Nouvelle University Paris 3. She started her career in programing, working at the French Embassy in Kazakhstan. In 2011, she joined Wide, a Paris-based international sales agent, handling the international rights to a catalogue of independent films. In 2014, she started working at Aurora Films based in Paris as a production manager before becoming executive producer there and producing her own films. To name a few of Aurora films successes: “On the edge” by Leila Kilani (Director’s Fortnight, Cannes), “Diamond island” by Davy Chou (Critic’s week, Cannes), “Heaven sent” by Wissam Charaf (Acid, Cannes).

Over the past few years, Aurora Films, based in Paris, France, has specialized in French and international co-productions and has produced about 50 films (shorts, documentaries and feature films). Out of the 7 feature films produced, 5 were selected in Cannes. Recent films include "Diamond Island" by Davy Chou (SACD award at the Critic’s Week in Cannes 2016), "Heaven sent" by Wissam Charaf (ACID in Cannes 2016), "If it were love" by Patric Chiha, (Teddy award for Best Documentary in Berlin 2020), and “Petite Solange” by Axelle Ropert (Competition in Locarno 2021). We are currently in production of the new projects of Patric Chiha, Davy Chou, Wissam Charaf, Blandine Lenoir and Lkhagvadulam Purev-Ochir.
