Katia Monla




Born in Beirut, Katia Monla grew up in Geneva. After obtaining a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Ottawa, Canada, with a double degree in Communication and French Literature, she worked in the international music industry in Switzerland: for the Montreux Jazz Festival and EMI Records as a press attaché. She then worked as a freelance journalist for a local daily newspaper and wrote in various columns. In 2014, she started working in independent film production and joined Intermezzo Films in 2017.

Intermezzo Films was founded in 1993 to produce feature and documentary films in a spirit of freedom and artistic standards, to foster innovative and creative movies. The company is committed to be an independent entity, close to the films it produces.
 With over 50 films, Intermezzo Films is today one of the leading Swiss French speaking part production company. Designed with international co-productions alongside France or Germany, as well as an established European television network, the films are represented in the finest festivals (Sundance, Locarno, IDFA, Acid Cannes, Venice, Visions du Réel…) and have received several awards. Today, the company is run by producers Luc Peter and Katia Monla.
