Biography

Sarah is a creative and visionary writer and director from the UK, based between England and Mexico. She is currently working on several projects focusing on unique stories led by strong female characters, including the feature film TWO OLD MAIDS (in development with the BFI). Sarah Clift’s background is in writing award-winning advertisement campaigns in London agencies, including work for brands such as Adidas and McDonalds as well as directing important government commercials. Sarah made a bold move to directing film and her debut short LA MADRE BUENA arose to immediate worldwide acclaim, screening at Academy and BAFTA recognised film festivals and receiving 50 wins and nominations. Her recent second short film THE BIRTH OF VALERIE VENUS, co-funded by the BFI NETWORK, has won numerous awards and qualified for Oscar Consideration and was BAFTA Longlisted for Best British Short Film in 2021. Sarah’s clear vision and strong unique voice has been noticed by film festivals and audiences around the world. She has been voted Best Writer of the year, Best New International Director, BIFA Longlisted, and has screened work at venues including the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and the House of Commons London.
