KATARINA PEJOVIĆ is dramaturg, scriptwriter, writer, director, intermedia artist, pedagogue, cultural activist and translator. Born in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, where she lived until the civil war, she graduated at the Department of Dramaturgy and Film and TV Screenwriting at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade. From there on, her professional and personal life took her to living in the USA, The Netherlands, Slovenia and Croatia.
As scriptwriter, she wrote for television (most notably for the cult 1990s Serbian TV sitcom 'Open Door') and collaborated on film scripts (from the 1991 'Virdžina' to the 2019 'The Diary of Diana Budisavljević', that won 6 major awards at the 2019 Croatian Pula Film Festival).
She directed several documentaries on theatre and cultural issues for the Dutch Kunstkanaal between 1995 and 1999.
As dramaturg and director, she worked on numerous theatre and contemporary dance performances, both institutional and non-institutional, in Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Germany, Italy, Malta, Cyprus, the Netherlands, Great Britain, USA and Austria. Her artistic works and intermedia projects were produced by production houses and cultural institutions and/or presented at festivals in over 30 countries; among them, BITEF, Ars Electronica, Holland Festival, Edinburgh Festival, LIFT, MESS, New Moves Glasgow, Steierischer Herbst...
She coordinated numerous conferences, platforms, festivals and initiatives in various countries. Her texts and essays were published in books and publications in 7 languages.
The production she either co-authored or authored have won several awards including two BITEF Special Jury Awards (Belgrade, 2007 and 2009) and the Avaz Dragon Award at MESS (Sarajevo, 2008).
She is recipient of the 2009 Desmond Tutu Fellowship Award given by the Global Reconciliation Organization.
From 2013 to 2017 she taught as external collaborator at the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb, Department of Production.
In recent years, she is mostly working in Slovenia, Croatia, Germany and Serbia.
