Films de Force Majeure is a production company based in Marseille, France.
Since its creation in 2010, our activity is mainly focused on art-house films, with a keen interest in documentaries and international collaborations.
We are keen on strong commitments and projects which transcend boundaries.
Films de Force Majeure is part of several European networks such as EAVE and EURODOC. On the national level, we are involved in the SPI and are part of UniFrance.
Among our latest feature films, let’s mention Little Palestine, Diary of a Siege by Abdallah Al-Khatib that will premiere at Visions du Réel in April 2021.
- The Last Hillbilly by Diane Sara Bouzgarrou & Thomas Jenkoe, which had its world premiere at ACID Cannes 2020, its international premiere at IDFA (special mention of the jury), recipient of 3 awards (FIFIB, Corsicadoc, Torino Film Fest). World sales: The Party Film Sales I French distributor: New Story (theatrical release in France in 2021)
- Game Girls by Alina Skrzeszewska (France/Germany) released in France in November 2018 (Vendredi Distribution) after its premiere at Berlinale 2018 (Panorama, nominated for the Documentary Awards). World sales are ensured by Doc&Film Intl.
We also coproduced A Land Imagined by Yeo Siew Hua, Golden Leopard at Locarno (Singapore/France/the Netherlands). It was released in France in March 2019 (Epicentre), sold on several territories by Visit Films, then bought by Netflix for the rest of the world.
Or even Still Recording by Saeed Albatal & Ghiath Ayoub, recipient of 5 awards at the Critics’ Week of Venice (Lebanon/France/Germany), released in France in March 2019 (Arizona Distribution).
We also collaborated on films that question the usual film codes, such as Mitra by Jorge León (Belgium/France) a.o. selected at FID Marseille and DokLeipzig. Or even The Sound is innocent by Johana Ozvold (Czech Rep./France/Slovakia) that premiered at Visions du Réel 2019.
Among our short films, we have just completed Made for walking by Hélène Baillot & Raphaël Botiveau which had its world premiere in competition at IDFA. Before that, we produced Get Lost by Romuald Rodrigues Andrade, broadcasted on France 2 (winner of 4 awards) and Portrait of Suzanne by Izabela Plucinska (Golden Dragon at Krakow Festival, French premiere at Annecy). Uncanny Valley by Paul Wenninger was part of the official selection of César 2017 for animated shorts. Songs Next Door by Flavie Pinatel recevied the Etoile de la Scam Award.
