Vanessa is a filmmaker with a passion for telling empowering and emotive stories about women.
She is currently in post-production for her first feature The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight for ACE entertainment starring Dexter Fletcher, Sally Phillips, Haley Lu Richardson and Jameela Jamil. She has also been commissioned to write and direct her feature Voyeur (a comedy/drama about a woman instigating her husband's affair) by BBC films/Wild Swim.
She directed the lead block of Gold Digger, a 6x1 hr series written by Marnie Dickens for Mainstreet Pictures/BBC. She also directed three short films for Snatches, a series of monologues for the BBC, curated by Vicky Featherstone (Artistic Direct of Royal Court Theatre) and written by writers such as Abi Morgan and Vicky Jones, in celebration of 100 years of women’s suffrage. One her shorts, Bovril Pam starring Jodie Comer, was nominated for a BAFTA.
She directed Little Women, a 3x1hr adaptation by Heidi Thomas for Playground / BBC1 and PBS starring Maya Hawke, Emily Watson, Willa Fitzgerald, Kathryn Newton, Annes Elwy and Angela Lansbury and the lead block of Thirteen written by Marnie Dickens and starring Jodie Comer for BBC / BBC America.
Other credits include My Mad Fat Diary S2, Aphrodite Fry and Flea a short by Cat Jones, as well as other award-winning shorts, commercials and music videos.
